---The construction and design of the pants are most typical of the 1970s, and the Talon 42 Zipper was also most commonly used by Levi's in the 1970s ---The 279 Number on the tag could be taken as a February 1979 manufacture date ---However, the button and label have a three-digit factory code (529), and some sources say three-digit factory codes weren't introduced until 1981. ---The latest possible date is 1982. The Factory code referse to the Hobbs factory, and I found newspaper articles from 1982 announcing the closure of that factory.
